History:
American history with all its highlights and deep shadows... One element that casts a shadow is the life of the Native Americans... Chief «White Shield» is counted among the legends of Native American history. He belonged to the Native American tribe of the Arikara people. Their lands were those regions which later on would get the names South Dakota and North Dakota. «White Shield» once said: «The color of skin makes no difference. My skin is red, but my grandfather was a white man. But why should that matter? It's not the color of the skin that makes me good or bad.» Many of the approximately 2000 current Arikara live in a reservation in North Dakota.
